1, Cruelty to Animals : Blatant killing of Blacktip Sharks in KL

Apr 2002: we walked in to a very popular entertainment venue in KL and shocked to find live blacktip sharks proudly displayed on top of its bar. These beautiful animals are kept in aquariums barely larger than their bodies, DIE EVERY 3 MONTHS, and simply replaced by the next batch of blacktips sharks..

If it was a cat or dog being kept in a small cage, and allowed to die every few months for our entertainment, would we be as indifferent?..

We've discovered the reason is feng shui; the owner believes the sharks ward off evil spirits and bring in good business. With being voted the #1 nightspot in Klang Valley 3 years in a row, this means the owner has no reason to change his opinion.
We're working hard behind the scenes, exploring avenues to get these beautiful creatures out, but we need help.

2, Never forget how fortunate we are... have you ever thought of giving something back as a diver?...

This pool session with kids from Rumah Hope - an shelter cum orphanaga - started at 2 pm on the 29th of Oct and involved 12 of 54 children who passed the swim tests and classroom theory sessions, and half the pool was used exclusively for the children to play and jump in!
...

Besides the bigfish crew we also had "guest" PADI instructor Dugald and Boo from Global Scuba help take care of the kids, and volunteers from Rumah HOPE, too. Since equipment in children's sizes were limited - and most of these kids are small for their age - the kids were split to 3 groups, with 3-4 kids taking turns and giving it a try! Needless to say the boys went in first.. can't afford to "lose face" now, can we?!!

Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!.. MUCH less stressed after their first breaths underwater, which the kids from the indigenous tribes (orang asli) showed the greatest naturalness / ease with..

3, We're also writing a children's book on Mother Earth and the environment, titled "Where Are My Children?", complete with characters & illustrations to try spread the message in a child-friendly manner, for use eventually (we hope!) in all Montessori® schools & kindergartens.

4, In addition we're still giving free talks on the Marine Environment & Its Conservation in any schools & corporates that would like us e.g. the Garden International School in Mont Kiara in May 2004!!

Aaaaaahh shucks, we're just some dive bums anyway - ARE YOU A LAWYER OR ACTIVIST?! We could use your help or ideas.. PLEASE contact reeza@bigfish.com.my if you'd like to help for more details!!

"David and I just wanted to say thanks for a fabulous long weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and came home feeling quite weary from all the sea air and exercise (for David!), but happy :-) You are very very good at what you do and your leadership certainly added to the enjoyment of the trip. Looking forward to our catch-up! Cheers -

"Reeza was our Mother Hen - repairing cameras, organising our dives and making sure we saw the best that Sipadan and Mabul had to offer. By our last night on Sipadan, everyone wanted to be part of our small, exclusive group - "Reeza's Babes"!!. Started as strangers, and left as friends.. Thanks Skinny Brown One!"

"The best part was breathing underwater. I didn't feel afraid because the water wasn't deep and everyone was around. At first I wasn't comfortable but my teacher (Reeza) let me try it out again and again until it was all right. I don't swim very well and this is the first time I have worn a proper swimsuit but it was fun!"
